Berlin bar culture is best understood as plural. Schöneberg gives you the most recognizable gay bar structure, with pubs and bars clustered around Nollendorfplatz and the surrounding streets. Elsewhere, drinking becomes more diffuse and more mixed: Kreuzberg, Neukölln, and parts of Mitte all pull in different crowds and different intentions.

That makes Berlin attractive for men who prefer choice over choreography. You can keep things social and legible, or push into something darker, later, and more specific. The city drinks well not because it is elegant, but because it gives you room to choose the right atmosphere and stay there as long as it still feels right.
